Entry Profile

The double degree in Business Administration and Tourism is suitable for those students interested in developing a professional career in tourism enterprises or in public administrations that work on promoting tourism. Students must be willing to cultivate personal initiative and an entrepreneurial spirit in the tourism and business fields, as well as have an ability for analysis, criticism and synthesis. It should be underlined that developing a positive attitude towards the tourism sphere will be important, as well as international relations, dialogue, communication, the ability to work as part of a team, problem-solving and particularly, knowledge of languages .

The double degree in Business Administration and Tourism aims to provide students with specific training in managing businesses and institutions that are part of the most important economic sector in the Balearic Islands: tourism. The training received by students combines both theoretical and practical elements, with a structure characterised mainly by a multi-disciplinary nature combining :

  • Main core training in business management (business management systems, marketing techniques, quality management, strategic positioning, accounting, mathematics, finance, human resources, etc.) and general economics (the economic environment, macroeconomics, microeconomics and the economics of tourism - measuring and assessing the economic impact of tourism, assessing the environmental impact of tourism, etc.).
  • Language training (English, French and/or German) specifically applied to the tourism sector: specific vocabulary for tourism businesses, presentation techniques, common expressions, etc.
  • Training in company law and specific tourism law (analysing the specific legal framework of the tourism sector), the geography of tourism (land resource planning and management) and cultural heritage management.
  • The practical application of knowledge acquired on the degree programme through work experience at a renowned tourism business or institution, both on the islands and overseas, lasting around 4-5 months .
  • The Final Degree Project where students will use the knowledge they have acquired throughout the degree programme .

Calculation of the entry mark
For courses with limited places, the admission mark is calculated according to the following criteria:
* Access with the Batxillerat high school diploma or equivalent (PAU) : the entry mark is calculated (out of 14 points) taking the entry mark and based on the weighting parameters of the two best marks (weighted average) for the subjects passed in the specific test (voluntary).
* Access with a technician diploma (vocational training) : the entry mark is calculated (out of 14 points) with the average mark from the vocational training course and based on the weighting parameters of the two best marks (weighted average) for the subjects passed in the specific test (voluntary).

Cut-off mark

Remark : The cut-off mark is calculated after the process of awarding places, and it depends on the relationship between the number of places offered for the degree programme and the demand that exists. If the demand is greater than what is offered, then the last student admitted determines the cut-off mark.
