The overall objective of the degree in social work is to teach students the basic scientific knowledge necessary to enable them to successfully become professional social workers.
What skills will you acquire?
The teaching is oriented at preparing professionals with competencies for social intervention with a broad knowledge of social structures and processes, human behaviour, and change. The programme will deal with fundamental skills related to helping relationships, and micro- and macro-social relationships, as well as specific abilities for conducting interventions with people, families, groups, and organisations in a vulnerable situation and/or a state of social or psychological distress. Furthermore, students will gain English comprehension, speaking, and writing skills.
What profile should you have?
An essential requirement will be the ability to relate to others with an interpersonal and communication ability in Catalan, Spanish and English. In turn, the personal qualities and characteristics that aid training of good social workers are as follows:

What career opportunities will you have?
The social work profession has a wide selection of professional pathways, with demand from both Public Administrations (local, island, regional and central) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The Degree in Social Work enables the social work profession to be developed in the following sectors, amongst others:
- Primary care social services at city councils and associations.
- Specialised social services for population sectors and problem areas: childhood and family protection; care for women; care for those with disabilities; care for migrants and refugees; health services; hospitals; mental health; legal services; mediation; correctional facilities, etc.
Travel and Learn
