The degree in pedagogy turns students into experts with respect to educational and formative processes in the school, socio-educational, organisational, and occupational contexts.
What skills will you acquire?
Students will learn how to design, run, carry out, and assess educational plans, projects, and actions. They will also be prepared to carry out response to interventions in all areas, as well as formative interventions in the organisational and occupational context.
What profile should you have?
The Humanities and Social Sciences stream of the Spanish high school diploma or equivalent is particularly suitable for future Pedagogy students, although the programme may be accessed with all types of further education diplomas.
Students wishing to study Pedagogy are recommended to possess:
- A vocation for educational and instructional topics
- A predisposition for analysis, reflection and creativity
- A critical approach and concern for social transformation and changes
- An inclination for relationships, dialogue and communication
- A predisposition for teamwork
- An awareness of the personal advantages and disadvantages of professional duties linked to education and training
- Values linked to how democracy works: responsibility, tolerance, commitment, solidarity, etc.
What career opportunities will you have?
The professional pathways are varied and cover such diverse fields as education (both in school and beyond) and training (in the business or organisation world in general).
Some professional pathways include: trainer at educational centres, on education and psychopedagogy counselling teams (EOEP) and on early support teams (EAP), lecturer in psychopedagogy topics in different professional training cycles, educational manager at institutions, director or assistant in human resources and training at organisations and businesses, careers advisor and trainer, as well as director or manager at training or social education centres.
Travel and Learn
The UIB offers students the chance to take part in different exchange and mobility programmes:
- Exchange and mobility programmes: to complete part of your studies at another university in Spain, the European Union, and around the world, or to get work experience at businesses in the European Union, managed by the International Relations Service.
- Volunteer work experience and projects with university development cooperation programmes in least developed countries, run through the development cooperation programmes managed by the Cooperation for Development and Solidarity Office (OCDS).
