New student profile and admission criteria
People who can participate in these university-level studies include the following:
- Those in posession of an official Spanish university degree, or an official degree issued by another higher education institution from within the European Higher Education Area that allows for holders of the degree to access Master's-level study programmes in the country that issued the degree.
- Those with degrees from outside of the European Higher Education Area who have been confirmed by the university to have a level of education equivalent to that which is provided by a corresponding official Spanish university degree programme and whose degrees allow them to access postgraduate studies in the issuing country.
In accordance with the regulation and timeframe established by the university, students must formally apply to the Master's degree programme before enrolling. If the number of applications exceeds the set maximum number of students, the Academic Committee of Degree Programme (CAT, by its Spanish initials) will rank candidates based on the following two criteria:
- The average mark shown on applicants' academic transcripts that were used during the admission of the student into the degree programme.
- Applicants' CVs, from which value will be given to the appropriateness of their degree considering the focus of this Master's programme, their previous scientific-professional activity and education, and their level of comfort with the fields of specialization covered in this programme.
The CAT may also interview applicants if it is deemed necessary.
Academic and professional goals
The overall objective of this programme is to provide an education that will enable future graduates to carry out work related to equality policies and/or gender-based violence prevention under the current legislative framework (highlighted by the Law of Comprehensive Protective Measures against Gender-Based Violence [Ley de Medidas de Protección Integral contra la Violencia de Género] and the Law of Effective Equality between Women and Men [Ley de Igualdad Efectiva entre Mujeres y Hombres]) by providing them with the conceptual and methodological tools needed to do so. Experts in equality policies are professionals who design, direct, coordinate, support, implement, manage, and assess plans, programmes, projects, and campaigns regarding equal opportunities in various professional contexts and areas.
Experts in the prevention of gender-based violence are professionals who design, direct, coordinate, support, implement, manage, and assess plans, programmes, projects, and campaigns regarding the prevention and/or eradication of gender-based violence in various professional contexts and areas. The objective of the degree programme is to turn students into professionals who are experts at performing these tasks.
