Master's Degree in General Health Psychology
Academic year 2025-26
Recommended Admission Profile
The recommended entry profile for the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology is as follows: candidates with undergraduate degrees in psychology with a specific pathway or specialty in clinical or health psychology or, failing this, candidates with undergraduate degrees in psychology in the area of health sciences. In short, candidates must have solid knowledge of the principles and foundations of clinical and health psychology.
Entry
Students interested in applying for a spot on the programme must submit their pre-registration application within the deadline stated on the website, and in accordance with the procedure for each academic year, as set by the UIB Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CEP).
The CEP will verify whether applicants fulfil the requirements for admission to the programme and, subsequently, submit the application to the programme coordinators to consider and decide on admission.
Finally, the CEP will publish the list of admitted students and provide the enrolment dates.
This procedure is governed by Regulatory Agreement of 23rd March 2022 that governs Entry and Admission to Official Master’s Programmes, published in the extraordinary issue of FOU no. 534 of 31st March 2022 (https://seu.uib.cat/fou/acord/14423/), implementing Article 18 of Royal Decree 822/2021 of 28th September that sets out the Organisation of Higher Education Programmes and the Quality Assurance Procedure.
Programme application specific information
Order ECD/1070/2013 of 12th June that sets out the requirements for authenticating official master's degree programmes in General Health Psychology, qualifying graduates to practise the regulated licenced profession of General Health Psychologist, defines the admission terms for the master's programme in Section C) and states:
"In order to be admitted to the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology, candidates must have an undergraduate degree in psychology and, where applicable, supplementary training that ensures they have passed at least 90 ECTS credits in specific healthcare subjects."
In this sense,
- Graduates in psychology who have passed curricula with a speciality in health psychology, and which align with Order CNU/1309/2018 of 5th December that governs the General Conditions for the Curricula on Degree Programmes in Psychology, fulfil this entry requirement
- In turn, and in accordance with REACU Agreement (Spanish Network of University Quality Agencies) of 15th January 2020, graduates in psychology holding either three- or five-year degrees issued in Spain prior to Order CNU/1309/2018 also fulfil the entry requirements on the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology
- Additionally, students with degrees from any member state in the European Higher Education Area that are equivalent to Spanish degrees in psychology (four- or five-year) and who are able to accredit they have completed at least 90 ECTS credits related specifically to healthcare will be eligible for this programme*
- Finally, candidates with degrees issued by an institution outside of the European Higher Education Area that are validated as Spanish degrees in psychology (four- and five-year) and who are able to demonstrate that their training included at least 90 ECTS credits specifically related to healthcare will be eligible for this programme.*
* Admission with an Overseas Qualification
The admission qualification of students with an overseas qualification who are applying for the programme must be assessed by a non-UIB committee (Accreditation Committee for Psychology Programmes [CAEP] at the Conference of Psychology Deans at Spanish Universities). The committee may take up to two months to issue its decision. In this light, students are advised to pre-register by 16th May in the current year, at the latest. Applications submitted after this deadline may not receive a decision from the external committee in time in order to be considered for admission to the programme.
As well as the usual pre-registration documents, these candidates must submit the application form for file analysis to the committee. Candidates must submit the course guides or subject syllabi issued by their home university, as indicated on the form, in order for their file to be analysed.
Moreover, candidates' admission qualification(s) and relevant academic transcripts must already be duly authenticated and translated at the time of pre-registration.
For further information, please see the Agreement of the Universities Council.
Possible Supplementary Training
With regard to candidates with overseas qualifications who wish to take the programme without having obtained the 90 ECTS credits in healthcare-related training during their undergraduate degree, the university will require them to take the healthcare-related subjects from the current UIB undergraduate programme in psychology as supplementary training prior to their admission on the programme, in order for them to attain the required number of credits. The Academic Committee for the Master's Programme will set the number of required credits to be taken in order to reach the 90-credit requirement based on candidates' transcripts.
Admission
The academic committee for the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology will be responsible for admission decisions for the programme. The committee comprises the programme head, module coordinator (core and specific), external placement coordinator, master's thesis coordinator, and the tutor for master's students (where required, this position may be taken up by the head or one of the coordinators).
Admission Requirements
Accreditation in the Programme's Languages of Instruction
The teaching languages on the programme are Spanish and Catalan, since both are co-official languages in the Balearic Islands. Lecturers may teach their classes in either language.
In this sense, non-native students must at least have an accredited level equivalent to B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, 2002) from the European Union Council. - Having taken university courses in the stated language

Admission Criteria
Since it would be unfeasible to provide suitable practical training to large student groups, the programme will only offer a limited number of spots. In this sense, the following admission procedure will apply:
- Where the number of applications fulfilling the entry requirements is equal to or below the set number of spots, all applicants will be admitted
- Where the number of applications fulfilling the entry requirements exceeds the set number of spots, the following admission criteria will apply in accordance with relevant weighting on a scale of 0 to 100% (adjuntar a la preinscripción el formulario-autoinforme de acceso rellenado):
