5. An interest in learning cartography, remote detection and geographical information system (GIS) techniques

Geography offers a wide variety of professional career pathways thanks to its multi-disciplinary and applied nature. The wide areas of the job market open to geographers include:

1. Town and country planning
2. Environmental planning and management
3. Geographical information technology
4. Socioeconomic and territorial development
5. The knowledge society (teaching and promotion of scientific knowledge).

 Workplaces include:

1. Professional territorial and environmental offices: producing plans, programmes and projects linked to the environment, society and town and country planning
2. Government work as an expert (the environment, water, town and country planning, risks and emergencies, climate, heritage)
3. Working as an engineer on geographical and cartographical information systems
4. Local development expert
5. Environmental education
6. Teaching.

In addition, the professional careers in the geography field in academe and research should also be taken into account.

Legislation requires that official Spanish Degrees receive positive evaluations by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).
