What is it?

The degree in history of art provides students with knowledge on: the development of art activities and their contribution to cultural history throughout time and in the present, the creative process and reception behind works of art, conservation, and management and dissemination of historic-artistic heritage.

What will you learn?

This study programme enables students to carry out various professions in different fields and areas related to art history, and it prepares them for further, more specialized studies. The main competencies that will be acquired include: gathering and interpreting data relevant to the area being studied, utilizing key resources and information technologies, performing in depth analyses of works of art, carrying out basic inventorying and cataloguing tasks, etc.

What will you be able to do once you finish?

Research and teaching of history of art. Work linked to protecting and managing historical, artistic and cultural heritage at institutions (higher or mid-tier civil service) and in business: cataloguing works and monumental sites, technical advice, interpreting heritage, managing programmes, etc. Museums, art and culture centres, image archives and centres. Heritage promotion: cultural tourism and educational programmes. Documentation and promotion of historical-artistic content (publishing houses, media, etc.).
