To ensure easier adaptation for new students, the following personal and academic characteristics are specified for the ideal candidate on the curriculum, which are closely linked to the Nursing graduate profile:

1. An interest in scientific knowledge, aspects linked to health and social problems. A social and ethical commitment.
2. An ability for observation, empathy, communication and interpersonal relations. Teamwork. An ability for analysis and reflection, problem solving and taking decisions.
3. Skilled in oral and written expression in Spanish and Catalan. Skilled in handling basic computer tools. An ability to understand, speak and write in English.

Nursing offers a wide variety of career options both in Spain and in other European countries. It is a licenced, closed, and regulated health profession with its own professional field, as set out in the Health Professions Organisation Act. Areas for professional practice include: healthcare (primary, specialised, public health), teaching, management, and research.

After completing this programme, graduates have the option to sign up for:

1. Official university master's and doctorate programmes (Regulatory agreement of 22 November 2011 which ratified the administrative regulation regarding the teaching of official bachelor's and master's degree programmes at the University of the Balearic Islands and Decree 43/2015 of 2 February which amends Royal Decree 1393/2007 of 29 October which lays out the regulations for official university teachings, and Royal Decree 99/2011 of 28 January which regulates the teaching of official doctorate programmes), and
2. The nurse practitioner programme, offered by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (Royal Decree 450/2005 of 22 April regarding nurse practitioners (B.O.I. of 6 May)).

Legislation requires that official Spanish Degrees receive positive evaluations by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). This process is called verification, and it serves to ensure that the development programme in which you will participate will provide the skills and learning results that it is supposed to.
