The Biomedical Research Ethics Committee (CERBIT) at the UIB has been created to regulate experiments with human samples and oversee activities linked to teaching that involve the participation of individuals as passive subjects for the purposes of obtaining biological samples, or that involve physically invasive procedures.
Within the framework of its duties, the CERBI shall report on scientific activities of UIB researchers that involve the use of human biological samples or invasive procedures on human beings. All research carried out at the UIB involving human biological samples or invasive procedures on human bodies must be overseen by the Research Ethics Committee of the Balearic Islands (CEI-IB).
