This committee is responsible for:

1. Coordinating the development of research.
2. Organising and distributing the resources available to perform these tasks.
3. Proposing the items from the university budget to be allocated to research expenditure, either from its own funds or from other sources.
4. Facilitating further training for members of the university community in other centres, both Spanish or overseas.
5. Informing, where appropriate, about collaboration projects with other centres.
6. Publicising the research works undertaken, together with the Publications and Scientific Exchange Service.
7. Supervising the overall support for research provided by the entire university structure.
8. Promoting cross-disciplinary and interdepartmental units to foster general interest research.
9. Proposing to the Governing Council the necessary conditions for the recognition of research groups.
10. Keeping the register of recognised research groups up to date.
