Learning Goals
The Master’s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention trains students to understand and apply the foundations, regulations and processes involved in managing occupational risk prevention at companies. The goals can be summarised as follows:
- Expanding knowledge and the ability to interpret, apply and find regulations applicable to specific occupational circumstances
- Attaining a wide ability to interpret different and varied occupational circumstances from a preventive viewpoint, and being skilled in identifying and assessing risks, and proposing specific preventive measures.
The learning goals for the programme specialisations align with the structure for the three areas governed by Royal Decree 39/1997 of 17th January that approves the Prevention Service Regulation: Safety at Work, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics and Applied Psychosociology.
Each specialisation is designed for students to cover specific content in-depth in order to develop the assessment and planning skills inherent to each specialisation subject area, and ensure the programme complies with the aforementioned Royal Decree which includes the training content for different prevention levels and specialisations.
The goals for each specialisation can be summarised as follows:
- A solid ability to develop specific risk assessments in each area (occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics and applied psychosociology)
- A capacity to select and apply in each specific scenario measurement and sampling systems, the appropriate techniques, relevant regulations, and interpretation and application criteria for specific measurement results and/or studies.
