In order to be awarded the degree, students must pass 60 ECTS credits as follows:

  • 28 credits from mandatory subjects. These subjects provide students with the foundations for a basic understanding of the state of knowledge and research areas currently in play in the field of marine ecology. In turn, they will equip students with the basic practical tools needed to pursue a professional or research career within any field of marine ecology
  • 14 credits to be chosen from elective subjects. The content of these subjects provides specific training in various topics enabling students to select the options with the greatest interest for them in terms of future professional or research careers
  • 18 credits from the master’s thesis (TFM). This subject comprises undertaking research supervised by a researcher/doctor and submitting a report on said work for a public viva examination. The thesis will focus on one of the work areas within the field of marine ecology.
