Students applying for the Master's Degree in Chemical Science and Technology should ideally have an undergraduate degree in one of the following areas: chemistry, physics, biochemistry, biology, food science and technology, pharmacy, or industrial or chemical engineering. In other words, the programme is open to graduates with core training in chemistry who wish to specialise in chemical science and technology or pursue initial research in this field, with a view to addressing and solving problems arising in industry and society. Where applicants do not have the aforementioned specific qualifications, they are advised to have an undergraduate degree with at least 120 ECTS credits from the following subject areas: chemistry, biochemistry, biology or chemical engineering.

Students interested in applying for a spot on the programme must submit their pre-registration application within the deadline stated on the website, and in accordance with the procedure for each academic year, as set by the UIB Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CEP).

The CEP will verify whether applicants fulfil the requirements for admission to the programme and, subsequently, submit the application to the programme coordinators to consider and decide on admission.

Finally, the CEP will publish the list of admitted students and provide the enrolment dates.

This procedure is governed by Regulatory Agreement of 23^rd March 2022 that governs Entry and Admission to Official Master’s Programmes, published in the extraordinary issue of FOU no. 534 of 31^st March 2022 (https://seu.uib.cat/fou/acord/14423/), implementing Article 18 of Royal Decree 822/2021 of 28^th September that sets out the Organisation of Higher Education Programmes and the Quality Assurance Procedure.

Admission Requirements

Accreditation in the Programme's Languages of Instruction

The programme's languages of instruction are Spanish and English.

In this sense, students whose first language is not Spanish must at least have an accredited level equivalent to B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, 2002) from the European Union Council.

Similarly, students whose first language is not English, must at least have an accredited level equivalent to B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, 2002) from the European Union Council.

B2-level Spanish and/or English will be deemed accredited for candidates who fulfil any of the following conditions:

1. Submitting certificates or diplomas equivalent to a B2 level, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, 2002)
2. Having taken university courses in the stated language
3. Having taken high school studies in the stated language
4. Having passed an interview with the master's coordinators.

Admission Criteria

The programme coordination team shall assess submitted documents in line with the following criteria:

• Average mark from the academic record/transcript for studies granting admission to the programme
• Professional experience in the field of chemical science and technology. The following scores will be awarded per month of accredited experience: 0.10 per month up to a maximum of 2.4 points (equivalent to two years' experience).

Applicants' merits shall be assessed as per the following weighting:

1. Average mark from the academic record/transcript: 75% of the total score
2. Professional experience in the field: 25% of the total score.

Once candidates' merits have been assessed, applications will be ranked in accordance with the qualifications set out in the recommended entry profile: graduates in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy, food science and technology, environmental science, physics, biotechnology, biology, industrial engineering and oceanography.
