This study programme is made by combining the study plans for mathematics and telematics into one specific programme. Thus, besides receiving the training provided by each of the programmes, students get a multidisciplinary vision of both fields, which makes this double degree unique.
What skills will you acquire?
This double degree covers the abilities and competences from both degree programmes. Thanks to a solid base in theoretical mathematics, this degree will allow students to use modelling tools to analyse and resolve telecommunications problems. Similarly, thanks to the telematics knowledge that will be acquired, the training that is provided in mathematics can be directly applied.
What profile should you have?
The double degree in Mathematics and Telematics is suitable for students who have taken Advanced Mathematics at high school and have the following abilities:
- Analysis and reflection
- Abstract reasoning and problem solving
- Verbal and written communication
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Initiative
- Ability to understand, analyse and summarise
- Perseverance
It is also important to bear in mind that since this double degree includes the skills and knowledge on each of the separate degrees, high marks in high school studies and an ability for individual work are recommended.
What career opportunities will you have?
The professional career pathways when taking the Double Degree in Mathematics and Telematics Engineering are, on the one hand, those inherent to the dual programme.
- Non-university teaching, university teaching and research, IT and telecommunications, public administration, banking, finance and consulting...
- The Degree in Telematics Engineering enables graduates to work as a technical telecommunications engineer. These professionals carry out different tasks, such as:
- Planning, installing, managing and maintaining communication networks (LAN, internet, intranets, WLAN, mobile telephony networks, etc.)
- Producing common building infrastructure projects (ICT)
- Network design and auditing
- Security systems and tools design and implementation, both for data storage and data protection against unauthorised access
- Security diagnostics and audits
- Telematic applications and services design and development (e-mail, www, online shopping, etc.)
- Design and development of communications protocols (TCP/IP)
- Marketing and commercial activities
- Consulting (developing regulations, certifications)
- Expert advice (reports and judicial expertise)
- Teaching and researching in developing new technologies and services
In turn, new professional pathways are opening up. Graduate profiles are particularly in demand at national and international corporate research centres (R&D&i) and organisations.

Travel and Learn
The UIB offers students the chance to take part in different exchange and mobility programmes:
- Exchange and mobility programmes: to complete part of your studies at another university in Spain, the European Union, and around the world, or to get work experience at businesses in the European Union, managed by the International Relations Service.
- Volunteer work experience and projects with university development cooperation programmes in least developed countries, run through the development cooperation programmes managed by the Cooperation for Development and Solidarity Office (OCDS).
High-quality official study
Legislation requires that official Spanish Degrees receive positive evaluations by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). This process is called verification, and it serves to ensure that the development programme in which you will participate will provide the skills and learning results that it is supposed to.
