Master's Degree in Mediterranean Studies: Comprehensive Perspectives on Cultural Heritage, History and Art

In order to be awarded the Master's Degree in Mediterranean Studies: Comprehensive Perspectives on Cultural Heritage, History and Art, students must pass 60 credits as follows:
The six (6) mandatory credits from the following subject: The Latest Trends in Cultural History and Heritage. The subject covers methodological content aimed at providing students with training in the latest historiographic trends.
Electives (42 credits). Students may select one of the three available specialisations on the master's programme from the elective credits, or not take any option. In the latter instance, they may freely select the elective subjects they wish to take from all those available for the programme during the academic year, including external academic placements.
In order to be awarded the selected specialisation, students must pass the relevant subjects (24 credits). All remaining credits up to the total for elective credits, shall be selected from common elective subjects and the external academic placements. The master's specialisations are:
- Cultural Heritage
- History
- History of Art.
Master's Thesis (12 credits). The subject comprises writing an original, individual, unpublished project to be assessed by a panel in a public viva. In general, the thesis topic must match the specialisation taken, where applicable. The specific content shall be agreed by the student and thesis supervisor.
Teaching is split into two semesters worth 30 credits each. The methodology module will be taught in the first semester as it provides core skills and methods required to take the programme's specific subjects and selected specialisation. Students will take 18 credits in the second semester from elective subjects and the external academic placements, as well as write their master's thesis.
