In order to be awarded the master's degree, students shall pass 60 credits as follows:
- 45 credits from one of the learning pathways
- 15 credits from the master's thesis linked to the selected pathway.
Students must select one of the following pathways:
- Literary and Cultural Studies. Students must pass the following credits for this pathway:
- 15 credits from the mandatory elective subjects for the pathway: 11140, 11141 and 11142
- * 30 credits from the elective subjects for the pathway.
- Theoretical and Applied Linguistics. Students must pass the following credits for this pathway:
- 15 credits from the mandatory elective subjects for the pathway: 11170, 11171 and 11172
- * 30 credits from the elective subjects for the pathway.
* Furthermore, the programme enables students to combine their selected specialisation with more general training in modern languages and literatures by taking two subjects from the other pathway. For example, students on the 'Literary and Cultural Studies' pathway may, at most, take two subjects from the 'Theoretical and Applied Linguistics' pathway, and vice versa. These subjects may be selected from elective or mandatory elective subjects on each pathway.
