Associate professor in the Department of Business Economics at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Carabobo (Venezuela) -mention CUM LAUDE. Ph.D. in Economics (2007) from the University of Barcelona (advisor: Antoni Manresa Sánchez) and Ph.D. in Economics, Business and Finance (2011) from Pompeu Fabra University, (advisor: Walter García Fontes).
Abel has been fellow research visiting in the 'Centre for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises', Warwick Business School, University of Warwick (2012). He also has visited the 'Heinz School of Public Policy and Management', Carnegie Mellon University (2006), and the Research Center in Welfare Economics at the University of Barcelona (2004-2007).
Researcher interested in innovation management, with publications in 'Research Policy', 'European Management Review', 'Industry & Innovation', and 'Business Research Quarterly'. 2014 Best paper award (Ambidexterity track of the Strategic Management GIS) at the conference of the European Academy of Management (Valencia, Spain). Finalist in the 'Stephan Schrader Best Conference Paper Award', awarded by the 'Technology and Innovation Management' division of the Academy of Management, Conference of the Year 2008 (Canada).
Also interested in the field of behavioral economics, with recent publications in the 'Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization'. Research member of the Decision Science Laboratory.
