Which groups do you need to select?
Subject activities are organised into different groups; for example, theory classes, practicals, seminars, etc. A subject can have large (GG), medium (GM or GX, depending on the number of students) and small groups (GP). In addition, there may be several groups for each type depending on the curriculum: for instance, a subject may have two large groups and four medium groups.
You will have to select group types at two different stages:
- When selecting subjects you will also need to choose one type per subject
- Once you have formalised enrolment you must select the remaining group types linked to the group where you are enrolled.
Students on some programmes can freely select any available group, whereas students on other programmes are automatically allocated a group in order to avoid timetable clashes. In the second instance, the first group you select when enrolling will often determine the group for all remaining subjects.
We recommend that you view the schedules and your centre's recommendations before enrolling.
A pop-up of available groups will display for subjects where you are able to assign yourself a group. Immediately after finalising enrolment, click the button to select the remaining group types for all other subjects where you have enrolled.
Group assignment is essential for you to ensure you can do all scheduled activities for the subject and fully organise your schedule. If you finish enrolling without having assigned yourself the groups, admin services will be able to do it automatically.
