María Victoria Rodríguez Lázaro obtained her BA in English Studies (2019-2023) at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). In 2023, she completed her undergraduate thesis on multiple negation in Asian Englishes, which received the Premi al millor TFG de Estudis Anglesos de la UIB 2022-2023 (BA dissertation extraordinary prize). She also holds a MA in Modern Languages and Literatures (2024) with specialisation in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics from the same university. After completing her MA, she was awarded a four-year predoctoral grant from the Comunitat Autónoma de les Illes Balears (FPU2024-004-C) and became a member of the research group Variation in English Worldwide (ViEW) from the University of Vigo. She has also joined the PhD programme in Philology and Philosophy at the UIB to work on her dissertation while she carries out teaching and research activities. Her main research interests are variationist linguistics in the field of World Englishes, with a particular focus on the morphosyntax and sociolinguistics of Gibraltar English.
