Dr Aina Maria Yáñez Juan

Brief CV

Aina M Yáñez, biologist (Universitat de Barcelona,1996), psychologist (UIB,2020), epidemiologist (Rotterdam University, 2002), and PhD in Medicine (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB 2007) is a full professor in statistics, epidemiology and public health at the nursing and physiotherapy department at UIB. She has supervised many Master's and PhD thesis. Codirector of MSc degree in Health Research and Innovation (UIB) since 2019 (UIB).

She is an expert in methodology and advanced statistical analysis with contributions to this area in hospital and primary care research (including the design and implementation of clinical trials for almost 20 years (before her position at the University in 2010). She also has international experience at two prestigious European universities (at Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences at Rotterdam University and at the Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology at Edinburgh University).

She has been the research group leader of 'Global Health Research Group' (UIB) since 2016 and a member of Primary Care Prevention and Health Promotion Network (redIAPP). Her main research areas focus on the study of lifestyle patterns (diet, physical activity, smoking, sedentarism) and their influence on chronic disease development, i.e., obesity, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mental health, and cardiovascular disease. She has been leading and participating in many competitive research projects. She has published more than 100 research papers, most of them in high-quality journals indexed in JCR and participated in 80 conferences with presentation papers, communications, and posters.

Two six-year research period recognised by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI).
