Brief CV
Mariana Ripoll-Fonollar has a PhD in English from the University of the Balearic Islands, where she also completed her MA in Teaching Training (2018) and her BA in English Studies (2017) and where she currently holds a position as a lecturer. Her research focuses on Gender Studies and Popular Fiction Studies, more specifically on women's historical writing and the history of British Feminism. Her publications on the topic include an article in The Conversation (¿Quiénes fueron realmente las "suffragettes"? (2022)), a book chapter in Routledge (Suffragette Historical Romances: Re-Purposing Women’s Suffrage in a Postfeminist Context (2024)), and an article in Revista Alicantina de Estudios Ingleses ((Post)Feminist Genealogies in Kate Muir’s Suffragette City and Lisa Evans’ Old Baggage (2025)). She is a member of the research group LITANGLO (Anglophone Contemporary Literatures) and has been involved in two competitive research projects funded by the Spanish Government: 'The Politics, Aesthetics and Marketing of Literary Formulae in Popular Women's Fiction: History, Exoticism and Romance' (FFI2016-75130-P, funded by AEI/FEDER, UE) from 2017 to 2020 and from 2022 'Romance for Change: Diversity, Intersectionality and Affective Reparation in Contemporary Romantic Narratives' (PID2021-122249NB-I00, funded by MICINN, AEI, FEDER, UE).
