Curriculum
Brief CV
Architect graduated from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2018), professional pianist from the Conservatori Liceu (2013), and PhD with cum laude distinction from the University of the Balearic Islands (2024) in the official Physics Doctoral Program, specializing in the research line "Physics of Materials and Engineering Applications."
Dr. del-Río-Bonnín began her research career during the final year of her degree (2017-2018) through a scholarship to develop the project "Cultural Acoustic Heritage of Door Knockers and Handles in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona." The results of this research were presented at two national and five international conferences.
After completing internships at a precast company and an architect's office, she pursued professional practice in two architecture offices during the 2018-2019 academic year, broadening her experience in construction and design.
Subsequently, she was awarded an FPI-CAIB scholarship to carry out her doctoral thesis, which focused on analysing the behaviour of precast hollow-core slab structural floors incorporating innovative materials, specifically shape memory alloys (SMAs). This research included a material-level study of SMAs, two experimental campaigns, and the application of findings to a pilot case study. The results were published in a Q1 journal indexed in the JCR and presented at seven international conferences. Her contributions earned her the award for the best paper in innovations in concrete technology / composite structures at the 14th FIB International PhD Symposium in Civil Engineering.
Currently, she is an Assistant Lecturer at the University of the Balearic Islands and a member of the ConStruct research group. Her current research lines include studying shape memory alloys (SMAs) and the behaviour of structures affected by corrosion, with applications aimed at improving the durability and sustainability of construction materials.
