Brief CV
I have a degree in history (2006) and a PhD in prehistoric archeology (2012) at the University of Barcelona. As part of an FPU grant, I developed my thesis (DEA) on ethnoarchaeology of fuel among the Fang of Equatorial Guinea, the result of a 9-month fieldwork stay in this country of central Africa. I subsequently developed my doctoral thesis on fuel management and landscape dynamics in prehistoric Balearic Islands based on anthracological studies (analysis of archaeological remains of wood and charcoal) in various sites in Mallorca and Menorca. During the doctoral training period, I carried out several research stays abroad (Université de Montpellier, France; University of Liverpool, United Kingdom; Columbia University, New York, United States).
After my PhD, I was successful in obtaining a series of postdoctoral contracts (obtained through competitive calls in state, foreign and European institutions) to several research groups both in Spain (ArqueoUIB) and abroad (UMR7209 of the National Muséum of Histoire Naturelle-CNRS-Sorbonne Universités in Paris and the Department of Archaeogy of the University of Nottingham). During this period, I have continued to develop these lines of research in ethnoarchaeology of fuel (in Equatorial Guinea and Ghana) and prehistoric anthracology in various places in the Mediterranean, especially in island prehistoric contexts (Balearic Islands, Sicily, Corsica, Crete). Likewise, I have worked on the development of new analytical techniques applied to archaeological charcoal, mainly in the development of quantitative ecoanatomy, dendro-anthracology and anthraco-typology. I am currently a Ramón y Cajal researcher in the ArqueoUIB research group of the Department of Historical Sciences and Theory of the Arts of the University of the Balearic Islands.
