Pere Capellà-Simó received his PhD in History of Art at the University of Barcelona in 2012. Currently, he is a Professor of Visual Artistic Education at the University of the Balearic Islands and member of the Gracmon Modernisme and Art Nouveau Research Group of the University of Barcelona. He is specialized in toys history and his research shows the connections between toys and education and artistic development in Europe from the late 18th century to the First World War. His first book: La ciutat de les joguines. Barcelona, 1840-1918 (Gregal 2013) was awarded with the Ciutat de Barcelona Agustí Duran i Sanpere Prize
