Brief CV
Rosario Pozo Gordaliza obtained her European Doctorate in Sociology from the University of Granada in 2011. She holds a diploma in Social Education from UVA and a degree in Educational Psychology from ULE, along with several specializations, postgraduate studies, and official Master's degrees from different universities in anthropological areas of specialization, including social research on analysis of social problems, gender studies, international cooperation, and international Romani studies.
During her time as a scholarship holder and contracted FPU researcher at the Department of Sociology of the University of Granada (2004-2009), she conducted doctoral research on female juvenile delinquency and the life trajectories of young women in juvenile justice. She has gained extensive international experience in feminist criminology centers in Europe, Canada, and the United States. Additionally, she has worked on international cooperation, gender, social research and consultancy at AECID and various NGOs, notably focusing on her work in Southeast Asia on gender-based violence and trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Currently, she is a permanent lecturer at the University of the Balearic Islands, teaching courses in bachelor's, master's, and postgraduate programs on gender-based violence, delinquency and juvenile justice, penitentiary issues, and socio-educational intervention with minors, adolescents, and families. She also collaborates with the University Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Intervention in Gender-based Violence (VIU). She is the co-director and lecturer of the University Specialist Program on Social Intervention in Human Trafficking and Prostitution at UIB and co-director of Doctoral Theses in Education and Interdisciplinary Gender Studies.
She has held various academic positions at different universities and research centers nationally and internationally. With over 15 years of experience in teaching and research and a 2019 ANECA research six-year period, she has demonstrated a commitment to gender perspectives in social and educational research, and a clear dedication to social justice and feminist intersectional research in various areas of interest.
Her areas of interest include socio-educational intervention and gender perspectives in contexts of social exclusion and vulnerability, the intersectionality of gender-based violence, evidence-based prevention, and feminist trauma intervention practices.
She focuses on girls, young women, and (institutionalized) women in juvenile and adult justice systems, access to social justice for vulnerable groups (ethnic and sexual minorities), migrations and gender, trafficking for sexual exploitation and prostitution (unaccompanied minors and survival strategies), antipunitivism and access to social and educational rights in contexts of vulnerability and social exclusion related to gender, addictions, and homelessness, and minors, adolescents, and families, with emphasis on gender in family prevention (sex-affective education).
Currently, she is a researcher in the competitive MINECO project 'Youth Romance Culture and Educational Trajectories in Compulsory Secondary Education' (ROMANCE SUCCESP) (2023-2027). From an intersectional perspective, the project aims to understand how the culture of romance influences the educational trajectories of youth.
