Brief CV

Degree in Mathematics (2008), Master in Mathematics (2009) and PhD in Mathematics (2012) by the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) with the PhD thesis entitled 'Contributions to the study of fuzzy implications. New constructions and applications to image analysis'. Since 2011, Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, UIB. Currently, Associate Professor. He has taught courses at the Degrees in Mathematics, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry and Business Administration, and at the Master's Degrees in Information Technologies, in Big Data Analysis in Economics and Business and in Intelligent Systems. He has been co-director of the Master's Degree in Intelligent Systems (2018-2023), member of the coordination team of the Stimulus of Mathematical Talent project (ESTALMAT) - Balearic Islands (2016-2023) and coordinator for the UIB of the same project (2019-2023).

His research activity has focused on the field of Soft Computing, specifically on the study of fuzzy logical connectives such as fuzzy implications and aggregation functions, and their applications in approximate reasoning, decision making and biomedical image processing. This research activity has resulted in 53 publications in journals with impact factor (42 in the first quartile), 114 communications at national and international conferences, 6 invited book chapters, 2 edited books and the direction of 2 PhD theses. He has been a member of the research team of 6 national research projects of competitive calls (being PI of 2 of them) and of 6 projects to promote scientific culture (FECYT) (being PI of 5 of them). He has won the award for the best theoretical article at the ESTYLF 2012 and EUSFLAT 2023 conferences. He is a reviewer for several reference journals in the field, a member of the Editorial Board of the journals Fuzzy Sets and Systems, International Journal on Approximate Reasoning and International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems. He is an organizer of several special sessions at reference conferences such as EUSFLAT or IPMU conferences and has been a member of the organizing committee of 6 conferences. He is a member of the research group 'Soft Computing, Image Processing and Aggregation', a member of the Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands and a member of the Board of the 'European Society of Fuzzy Logic and Technology' (EUSFLAT).
