Dr. Patricia García-Pazo: PhD in Health Sciences (2022), Master in General Health Psychology (2017), Diploma in Nursing (1995) and Bachelor in Psychology (2001) from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).
In her training as a nurse, she is an expert in Emergencies and Health Assistance in Catastrophes, UIB (1998) and a university postgraduate degree in Critical Care from the Complutense University of Madrid (2007).
In training as a psychologist, she has specialized in care in crisis and catastrophe situations, accredited at a national level by the General Council of Colleges of Psychologists.
Professional experience: nurse in intensive care units (ICU) in the hospital setting of public health (23 years) and emergency and catastrophe psychologist for the 112 emergency service (20 years).
University professor: She has been an assistant professor in the Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy at the UIB since 2018 to the present. She teaches the subjects of: 22701- Psychosocial Sciences Applied to Health - CPAS (1st Year of the Nursing Degree) and 22763- Psychosocial Sciences Applied to Physiotherapy - CPAF (1st Year of the Physiotherapy Degree); 22717- Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Health and 22703- Adult Nursing VI (3rd Year of the Nursing Degree). Obtaining very favorable evaluations from the students. She has directed Nursing Degree Final Projects (TFG) of the subject 22730- TFG.
During her time as a nurse, she has tutored a total of 759 hours of practice for 4th year Nursing Degree students, and has tutored practicum students (4th year Psychology Degree) at the Universitat Oberta de Barcelona (UOB).
She has also participated in 6 teaching innovation projects, in one of them as principal investigator related to the implementation of Virtual Reality (VR) in nursing assessment in critical patients. All projects have been subsidized by the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation (IRIE).
Researcher: Author of 11 articles published in high-impact journals and in: (9) Q1; (1) Q2 and (1) Q3 with preferred authorship in 45% of them.
She has presented more than 20 oral communications and posters at national and international conferences.
Currently, she is participating in the competitive research project: (1)GROWING HEALTHY of the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN) PID2021-126704OB-100. She has also participated in other projects such as PROMHES-U of the Carlos III Health Institute (PI20/00006). She has recently received the 1st prize for PDI in the 'I Call for the Agenda 2030 Awards' awarded by the Office for Development Cooperation and Solidarity (OCDS).
Researcher in the research group: Chronicity and Evidence in Health (CurES) of the Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IdisBa).
Transfer: She has developed two mobile phone applications for health (mHealth); (1) NoFumo+ that implements psychological therapy for smoking cessation and (2) GROWINAPP (currently still in development that collects emotional variables). She has also written 2 book chapters in 'Mental Health Nursing and Psychiatry. Assessment and care' (2022). Publisher: Medica Panamericana.
She participates (2023) in the technical scientific advice of the adaptation of the drug prevention program 'YOU DECIDE' of the European Institute for Prevention Studies (IREFREA).
In addition, she has been the author and co-author of 3 psychoeducational stories as an author: "WEARING SHOES WITHOUT TYING YOUR LACES", and as a co-author; 'We have experienced the torrent' (Catalan version), 'An unexpected flood' (Catalan version) and 'Juan's curiosities, know the nurses' trick', also published in Catalan and Spanish.
