Brief CV

Antonio Doménech-Sánchez is Associate Professor of Microbiology at the University of the Balearic Islands.

He graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of the Balearic Islands in 1997. Since then he has constantly been working in diverse fields related with microbiology. He obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology in 2004.

Antonio Doménech-Sánchez is an expert in antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, particularly those related to the membrane permeability of Gram negative bacteria to beta-lactams.

So far Antonio Doménech-Sánchez has been involved in 23 projects funded by public and private entities. The projects included research and teaching activities. Forty-four publications, four books, 24 presentations to diverse congresses and two patents are some of the results derived from these activities. His work has an h value of 18 and has been cited more than 4,000 times.

Antonio Doménech-Sánchez has been teaching students of Biology, Biochemistry and Nursering grades since 2002, including topics related to microbiology, infectious diseases, immunology and molecular biology. He is often invited as a speaker at secondary schools to initiate students into the microbiology world. He is also a tutor for post-graduate students in the Master of Advance Microbiology at the University of the Balearic Islands.

He iwas also the technical manager of Saniconsult Ibérica S.L from 2003 to 2019. There, he was involved in hygiene and sanitary assessment to the tourist sector, including audits, teaching and analysis in areas like food, drinking and recreational water and legionnaire's disease prevention, among others.
