Curriculum
Brief CV
Manuel Luna holds a PhD in Physics and is a lecturer in the Department of Physics at the UIB. His field of work is solar magnetohydrodynamics, with special interest in the physics of solar protuberances.
He received his PhD from the Universitat de Les Illes Balears in July 2009 with a grant from the government. He then moved to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for 3 years. There he worked on the formation processes of solar prominences and non-linear oscillations of these structures. He has remained an external collaborator with NASA from 2012 until May 2021. In 2012 he moved to the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) until the end of 2019. There he developed a multitude of studies on non-linear oscillations of solar protuberances, solar tornadoes and condensation processes in the solar corona, among others.
He taught the subject 'Fluid dynamics in Astrophysics' at the University of La Laguna in the academic years 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. In the academic year 2019-2020 he participated in the subject Electromagnetism at the UIB. In 2020-2021 he has taught the laboratory practices of the subject Fundamentals of Installations. In the academic year 2021-2022 he participated in the subject Mathematics II. He has supervised 4 TFM and 1 PhD Thesis at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.
