She was born in Getxo, Vizcaya in 1968. Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Economics University of the Balearic Islands since 2009. Previously, she has been full-time lecturer at the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (1991-2000), partial-time lecturer at the University of the Balearic Islands (2000-2002), associate researcher at IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) from 2001 to 2002 and Assistant Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands (2002-2009).

PhD in Economics, Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and MA in Econometrics, University of Essex (UK). General Director of R&D&I, Balearic Islands Government (2004-2007). Research focuses mainly on agricultural economics, innovation in services and tourism, hotel pricing and circular economy in tourism. Papers in Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Vacation Marketing, Journal of Agricultural Economics, Tourism Management and Tourism Economics, co-editor of two books (Series: Innovation and Tourism, Cognizant Ed) and author of the Encyclopedia of Tourism (Springer 2015). Researcher in competitive funded R&D projects of Spanish National R+D+I Programme, Interreg Programmes and IV Framework Programme and consultant for the European Commission (DG Regional Policy and DG Employment), Government of Chile, Balearic Islands Government and COTEC Foundation for Technological Innovation, among others. Member of the Commissions of Business R&D and R&D Governance of the COTEC Foundation (2004-2007).
