Curriculum

Brief CV

Bachelor in Physics from UIB and PhD in Physics from the same university (2002, extraordinary prize). He has been Associate Professor of the University in the areas of Applied Physics (2005-2016) and Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering (2016-2024). Currently, he is a Full Professor in the area of Applied Physics, with 5 five-year teaching quinquennia and 4 recognized research sexennia.

He has teaching experience since 2001 and two university master's degrees in teaching, one of them in university teaching. He has taught classes as a responsible professor in the bachelor and graduate degrees in Physics, in the degree in Agricultural and Rural Environment Engineering, and in the degree in Building Engineering, as well as in various subjects in the master's degree in Advanced Physics and Applied Mathematics.

Since 1998 he belongs to the Materials Physics research group, where his main line of research is shape memory alloys. In particular, he has specialized in transmission electron microscopy (TEM), an instrument that he began to use during his doctoral thesis. Between 2002 and 2004 he completed a postdoctoral stay at the Electron Microscopy for Materials Science (EMAT - Antwerpen, Belgium), one of the most prestigious centers in Europe, to strengthen his skills in this technique. He has also made other stays to enhance his knowledge in TEM at Texas A&M University (USA - several times) and the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland).

He has more than 60 scientific publications, most of them in international journals indexed in Q1 in JCR categories, he has collaborated in more than 80 communications at international conferences and has participated in 15 national and international projects. Currently, he exceeds 2600 citations (with an average of more than 200 cites/year in the last 5 years), which gives him an h-index of 30 in the Scopus database.

Finally, he has held management positions, among which it is worth highlighting almost 4 years as secretary of the Department of Physics and more than 4 years as the director of the Center for Postgraduate Studies of the UIB.
