Brief CV
Degree in Biology (1998) and Biochemistry (1999) from the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB). Predoctoral fellow at the UIB (2000-2003). Visiting researcher in 2001 and 2002 at the 'Institute for Nutrition Research' (University of Oslo, Norway). PhD from the UIB in April 2004. Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Biomaterials (University of Oslo, Norway) 2004-2008. Associate Professor in the Dept. of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences of the UIB 2007-2008. Ramón y Cajal Researcher 2009-2013. From 2014 -2017 she was Contract Lecturer with a PhD at the UIB. From 2017-2022 she was Senior Lecturer. Currently, she holds Full Professor position at the UIB in the area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
She is the PI of the Cell Therapy and Tissue Engineering group (TERCIT) together with Dr. Joana Mª Ramis, which is affiliated to the UIB, IUNICS and the Institute for Health Research of the Balearic Islands (IdISBa). She is also the coordinator of the Transversal Area of Science and Health Technology, member of the Internal Scientific Committee (CCI) and of the Innovation Commission (CI) of IdISBa. She has participated in the generation of two biotechnology companies. She was also part of the executive committee of the Biotechnology and Biomedical Cluster of the Balearic Islands (BIOIB) from its creation until September 2013. She is the coordinator of the PhD in Translational Research in Public Health and High Prevalence Diseases (TISP) at the UIB. During her postdoctoral stage at the University of Oslo (2004-2008) and since 2009 in the TERCIT group, she has gained extensive experience in technology transfer activities, and in the development and manufacture of new biomaterials, dental implants and other specialized medical products.
The research developed to date has resulted in the publication of more than 90 articles, as well as in more than 100 contributions in national and international scientific congresses, and in 5 patents. She has participated in 27 research projects (13 as principal investigator) and in more than 30 contracts of special relevance with companies. She is actively involved in the scientific supervision of post-doctoral and pre-doctoral researchers, continues with her teaching activities at the UIB and has received several awards for entrepreneurship.
She has been awarded 4 five-year teaching periods, 3 six-year research periods and 1 transfer period, as well as the complementary remuneration for stimulus and recognition of teaching and continuing education of teachers, research activity and research excellence and knowledge transfer of the CAIB.
