Brief CV
Antonia Paniza Fullana is Full Professor of Civil Law and has served as Acting Judge of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands. Member of the Balearic Civil Law Advisory Board (2018-2013).
Her research has focused on the following areas: consumer protection in distance contracts and electronic contracts, especially with respect to Tourism Law and the new technologies used in tourism; civil liability in healthcare; the relationship between rights in rem and inheritance; and child protection and Family Law.
She has had five monographs published in the aforementioned research areas: distance contracts, the creation of easements without title, usufruct and trusts, and package travel and linked travel arrangements and the Spanish paternity law system: the biological truth, the legal truth, and the interest of the minor. She has also directed and coordinated another two monographs under the framework of a research project and on which she served as the lead researcher: 'New ways of commercialising tourism services online' and 'Dynamic packages: problems and solutions from an international perspective'.
She has written many papers for well-known prestigious law journals as well as book chapters at an international level, and she has gained recognition for her five consecutive six-year research terms, one of innovation and knowledge transfer. She has received Gerald Heifetz Award 2022 of IFTTA.
As a researcher, she has been involved in thirteen national and international research projects and has been the lead researcher on a Ministry R&D project titled 'New ways for commercialising tourism services online: subsuming legal models and the division of liability'. She has also received and administered other grants. Besides, she has been part of scientific committees and organization of different conferences and she is member of the Scientific Advisory Board of RIDETUR and member of editorial board of Tourism Law Review (Iustel).She is a member of the Tourism Law Research Group of the UIB and board member of International Forum of Travel and Tourism Advocates (IFTTA). She is a member of the Laboratory on Artificial Intelligence Applications at the UIB.
With regard to management, she has served as the Secretary and Assistant Director of the Department of private law. She is also serving as the Assistant Director of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies at the UIB and since October 2014, as Director of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies and General Secretary of the University of Balearic Islands (2017-2021).
