Brief CV

Antonia Paniza Fullana is an Associate Professor of Civil Law and has served as Acting Judge of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands since 2006. Member of the Balearic Civil Law Advisory Board.

Her research has focused on the following areas: consumer protection in distance contracts and electronic contracts, especially with respect to Tourism Law and the new technologies used in tourism; civil liability in healthcare; the relationship between rights in rem and inheritance; and child protection and Family Law.

She has had four monographs published in the aforementioned research areas: distance contracts, the creation of easements without title, usufruct and trusts, and package travel and linked travel arrangements. She has also directed and coordinated another two monographs under the framework of a research project and on which she served as the lead researcher: 'Nuevas fórmulas de comercialización on line de servicios turísticos' ('New ways of commercialising tourism services online') and 'Paquetes dinámicos: problemas y soluciones desde una perspectiva internacional' ('Dynamic packages: problems and solutions from an international perspective'). She has written many articles for well-known prestigious law journals as well as book chapters at an international level, and she has gained recognition for her three consecutive six-year research terms.

As a researcher, she has been involved in seven national and international research projects and has been the lead researcher on a Ministry R&D project titled 'Nuevas fórmulas de comercialización on line de servicios turísticos: subsunción en los tipos legales y distribución de responsabilidad' ('New ways for commercialising tourism services online: subsuming legal models and the division of liability'). She has also received and administered other grants.

She is a member of the Tourism Law research group and the International Forum of Travel and Tourism Advocates.

With regard to management, she has served as the Secretary and Assistant Director of the Department of private law. She is also serving as the Assistant Director of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies at the UIB and since October 2014, as Director of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies.
