Civil Engineer, MsC and PhD in Construction/Structural Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2003, Outstanding Doctorate Award). He taught at UPC from 2001 to 2003, when he joined UIB. Professor in Construction Engineering, specializing in structural engineering, teaching diverse courses related to construction and structural engineering in different degrees and Masters at UIB. He co-founded the YouTube channel 'Ingenia-ConStruct,' specialized in education and dissemination on structural engineering, which has accumulated over 1.5 million views.

His research focuses on structural engineering, with more than 85 published papers and collaborations in books or codes of practice, and more than 160 participations in congresses and conferences. Currently, his research primarily focuses on the behaviour of deteriorated concrete structures and the study of possible applications of shape memory alloys, and other advanced materials, in the structural field, especially for strengthening existing structures.

He collaborated in drafting the Spanish Structural Concrete Code (2008) and has worked with various companies and institutions nationally and in the Balearic Islands on more than 15 technology transfer projects and 10 research projects. He is a member of the Red Leonardo of the BBVA Foundation in the engineering field (promotion 2018).

Additionally, he has conducted research stays at the University of Toronto (Canada) and at EMPA (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology), and a teaching stay in Colombia. He has also worked as a civil engineer specialized in water, sanitation, and construction in Guinea-Conakry, Niger, Togo, India, Paraguay, El Salvador, and East Timor, within the scope of international development cooperation or humanitarian action.

With extensive experience in academic management, he currently holds the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Construction since 2020. Previously, he has held other management positions, such as Coordinator of the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program in Physics at UIB (2018-2021), Associate Vice-Rector for University Infrastructures (2008-2012), Deputy Director of the Department of Physics (2007-2008), and Director of the Miquel Llabrés Feliu Foundation Chair (2007-2010). He has also managed associations and initiatives outside the university and is currently a member of the Council of the Spanish Association of Structural Engineering (ACHE), where he was vice president between 2017 and 2022, as well as a member of the SMAR Executive Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Hormigón y Acero of ACHE and serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier) and Structural Concrete (fib).

Summary of scientific production/quality indicators (November 2024): Three recognized 'six-years research periods' (2001-2018, consecutive) and one six-years of technology transfer period (2004-2009). h-index = 30 (Google Scholar) - h = 26 (Scopus). 3600 citations (Google Scholar) - 2400 citations (Scopus). 4 doctoral theses directed or co-directed already completed, plus 3 doctoral theses in progress. He is included in the 2023 and 2024 Stanford University/Elsevier list of the Top 2% of Scientists worldwide according to standardized citation indicators.
