Dr María de la Paz Martínez Bueso
Doctor in BioHealth Sciences. Master in Nutrition and Food Quality. Master in Quality of Life in Ageing. University Expert in: Tissue and Joint Biomechanics; Teaching Techniques in Higher Education; and in Sport Physiotherapy.
She holds a Full Professor (Contratado Doctor) position at the Dept. of Nursing and Physiotherapy of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) since 2002.
The lines of research as a collaborator of the 'Unit of Graphics and Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence' of the Research and Development group of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), focus on Bioengineering in the field of health (biomechanics and telemedicine, analysis of human movement and Vision-based Interaction). She has participated in 2 transfers of innovative technology (TOT) to the clinical sector.
Her lines of research as a member of the research group 'Evidence, lifestyles and health' of the University Institute of Research in Health Sciences (IUNICS) of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and as a member of the Institute of Health Research of the Balearic Islands (Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de las Islas Baleares-IdISBa-) focus on sports physiology (inflammatory response to exercise, biochemical markers of oxidative stress) and nutrition.
She has participated as a researcher in a total of 15 R&D projects funded in competitive public calls such as National Plans, FIS projects or special CAIB actions, in addition to 3 research contracts of special relevance with public / private companies. It has also participated in 12 teaching innovation projects. She has made scientific contributions in the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Physiology and with 23 publications.
Dr. Martínez participates regularly in meetings and congresses of the European Federation for Medical Informatics, Association for Computing Machinery, International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED), International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, International Workshop on Virtual Rehabilitation, International Workshop Articulated Motion and Deformable Objects, International Conference on Virtual Worlds and Games for Serious Applications, Spanish Congress of Computer Graphics, Spanish Automatics Committee (CEA) Bioengineering Symposium, Conference on Articulated Motion and Deformable Objects, Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (CASEIB), International Conference on Interactive Digital TV, World Congress of Sport Medicine, Spanish Federation of Sports Medicine, Congress of the European College of Sport Science, International Society of Exercise and Immunology Symposium, European Network of Physiotherapy High Education (ENPHE), World Confederation for Physical Therapy and International Society of Educators in Physiotherapy, among others, with 46 oral / poster communications in the annual congresses of these scientific societies.
She has recognized 3 teaching five-year periods, 1 research six-year period as well as the remuneration complements of stimulation and recognition to the teaching and the permanent training of the teacher, and the research activity from the Balearic Government.
She also has experience in the teaching field at the university (since 2002) in the degrees of psychology, nursing and physiotherapy. And also teaching master's degree studies in Health Research and Quality of Life.
Her previous job before entering the university: clinical experience in rehabilitation of patients in traumatology, neurology and pneumology, both in Primary Care and in different Specialized Hospital Care Services. He has also developed his career in several sports entities and competitions.
