Associate Professor of Physiotherapy. Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy. PhD in education, University of the Balearic Islands, with European Mention. Berta has developed previous professional activity as a physiotherapist both in the public (primary care, specialized care) and private (Fremap, home care and in private centers). She began her teaching career in 1996-1998 as an assistant professor at the University of Vigo. In 2001 he returned to the academic field at the University of the Balearic Islands, actively participating in the implementation of the Physiotherapy degree. It currently has 4 accredited teaching five-year periods and teaches at the bachelor's, master's and lifelong learning levels. TFG (38), TFM: (5), Supervised Theses (2) and three more currently co-supervised.
Her research activity has been accredited by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNAI) with 2 six-year research periods (2008-2013; 2013-2019). He has led or participated in national and international research projects, internationalization projects, teaching improvement and development cooperation (Brazil and Peru). She has been a reviewer for Q1 journals and is currently the co-editor of the special issue of the journal Frontiers in Public Health called: "Connecting the dots in physiotherapy: Reframing the role of the profession in the Anthropocene".
Berta's profile is clearly international, she has facilitated the development of UIB agreements with American and European universities, she has participated in stays at universities in Latin America and countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden on several occasions. He has tutored students and guest teachers through different programs.
Her research interests have to do with the education of health professionals, health history and equity, with an emphasis on physiotherapy; Primary Health Care and Public Health with an emphasis on health promotion; disability, early care and quality of life. He has more than 150 communications and presentations at scientific conferences (in the field of physiotherapy, public health, community and education) and more than 60 publications in article, book and book chapter format, many of them open to air. He has designed infographics, teaching material and other educational products.
Berta has held one-person management positions at the UIB, being deputy director of the School of Nursing and Physiotherapy in the period 2002-2007. She was director of the Specialist Degree in Physiotherapy in Primary and Community Care (UIB), director of the Official Master's Degree in Health Research and Quality of Life (UIB, 2016-2018). More recently, she was deputy director of the Center for Postgraduate Studies (2017-2022) She is currently the head of the ApSUIB program (2017-) and the director of the Innovation Unit in sustainable development, health and global justice through service-learning (iApS2030) since 2023. Berta is responsible in her department for the environmental physiotherapy approach.
She has developed different actions linked to the transfer, such as contracts (art. 83 LOU, art. 60 LOSU) and agreements. He has developed projects for private companies, associations and public administrations, such as the Conselleria d'Afers Socials. She has coordinated the management of exhibitions for different municipalities in Mallorca and participated in audiovisual projects with hospitals and health centers related to health and disease. She has been the director of two documentaries that have been widely disseminated.
Berta regularly collaborates in different commissions, committees and groups of experts. She participated in the design of the curriculum of the Pedagogical Aptitude Course (CAP) of the UIB, in the hiring processes of physiotherapists and also of teachers, in the design of the curriculum of the Master's Degree in Geriatrics (University of Utrecht), she was Secretary of the CEP of the Master's Degree inResearch and Quality of life (UIB). She was a member, as a delegate of the rector, of the commission for the Preparation of the White Paper of the Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy (ANECA), and has collaborated in the recent "Framework for the self-evaluation of Spanish universities in the improvement of their actions aimed at promoting active, critical and responsible citizenship". (2024). He has collaborated with agencies linked to quality and accreditation at the national, regional and international levels.
Berta participated as an evaluator in the call for Exemplary Practices in Social Responsibility Awards of the Consell de Mallorca (2022) and in the call for Awards of the Volunteering Platform (2023). He has participated in the Committee "Health Promoting Companies of the Balearic Islands" (General Directorate of Public Health and Participation & Institute of Occupational Safety and Health of the Balearic Islands) and is currently a member of the Primary Care Bioethics Committee (COMETA) of the Primary Care Management (Ministry of Health). She participated as a reviewer in the working group for the preparation of the White Paper on Education, of the General Council of Colleges of Physiotherapists of Spain.
Berta collaborates with entities related to physiotherapy, public health and education and also with various local entities. Her participation in the Education Working Group of the Spanish Association of Physiotherapists (AEF), of which she was Delegate of the Balearic Islands, stands out. She actively participated in the European Network for Physiotherapy in Higher Education (ENPHE), of which she was national coordinator for 4 years, and was leader of the 'Quality in Physiotherapy in Higher Education' group until 2013. He is currently a member of the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARLSCE) and the Critical Physiotherapy Network (CPN). She was a founding member of the Spanish Association of University Service-Learning (of which she is president) and of the Association linked to hospital pedagogy called INèDITHOS; she is vice-president of the European Association of Service-Learning in Higher Education, Coordinator of the driving group of Service-Learning in the Balearic Islands.. She is also coordinator of the APSU Network of the Group 9 Universities.
Berta has been a mother since 2013 and overcame an oncological disease in 2020.
