Brief CV
He has a degree in Computer Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1988), he achieved his Research proficiency in September 1994 with the research report entitled 'Some Aspects of the Computer Animation of Human Grasping and Reaching'. He received the title of Doctor in Computer Science from the University of the Balearic Islands with the thesis 'Balance Control of Multiple-supported Articulated Systems for Computer Animation' in September 1996 with the qualification of Excellent 'Cum Laude'. He obtained the European Doctor Mention in September 1997.
He began his teaching career as a Professor of FP2 at the Polytechnic Studies Center of Barcelona from October 1988 to February 1989. In March 1989 he became full Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands and since 2000 He is a full-time Professor Titular at the same university.
He has held the academic positions of secretary of the Department of Mathematical Sciences and Informatics (1 year and 5 months), deputy director of the Higher Polytechnic School (12 years and 8 months), Coordinator of the Area of Experimental Sciences and Technologies (1 year and 11 months ) and is currently Director of the Master's Degree in Intelligent Systems (since 2018) and Secretary of the Doctoral School (since 2019). He has participated in the academic commissions for the creation of the study plans of the Degree in Computer Science, of the Master in Intelligent Systems and is currently part of the academic commission for the writing of the study plan of a Degree in Artificial Intelligence.
He is a specialist in the area of graphics and computer vision and artificial intelligence. He has recently worked in the fields of user interfaces and usability and is a member of the Computer Graphics and Vision Unit and IA research group, which belongs to the UIB's catalog of research groups attached to the ANEP Sciences area, computing and information technology; including Human-Computer Interaction in one of its lines of research.
In these areas, he has participated in more than 20 research projects, both national and European, and has supervised a doctoral thesis and numerous end-of-degree and end-of-master projects. He has more than twenty publications in international journals and books, and more than 50 contributions and participations in conferences both nationally and internationally. He recently collaborated with researchers from the UIB Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy, with whom a multidisciplinary working group has been created with which results have already been published in an indexed journal.
