Brief CV

He received a degree in Computer Engineering by the University of Balearic Islands in 1992 and a PhD in Computer Science in 2005 by the University of Balearic Islands. Currently, he is Full Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands. He has taught several courses belonging to Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Telecomunications Engineering fields (BsC and MsC levels), comprising topics such as computer organization, operating systems, embedded systems, control systems and perception systems/computer vision/pattern recognition/machine learning.

He is member of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. At this moment, he leads 1 European project and 1 Spanish project; along the past years, he has led 11 competitive projects, including several local, Spanish and European projects on mobile robotics, image processing/analysis and pattern recognition/machine learning. He is author and co-author of more than 170 publications related with computer vision, mobile robotics and machine learning, including peer-reviewed conference communications and journal papers. His current research interests comprise computer vision, pattern recognition and machine learning, and mobile robotics. He regularly serves as reviewer and member of the scientific/organization comittees for a number of Spanish and international conferences and journals in the same areas. He is as well member of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) and also of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR).
