Brief CV
Joaquín Valdivielso Navarro is Associate Professor of Moral Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy and Social Work. His profile deals with contemporary moral and political philosophy, mainly on critical theories of society, and ethics and politics of the environment. He has participated in research projects with public funding since 1997, and now is co-directing the project Biological Reproduction, Social Reproduction and Public Sphere (PID2020-115079RB-I, AEI/FEDER, UE).

- Valdivielso, Joaquín (2022) «The Gaze on the Tourist: Critical Approaches in Spanish Environmental Humanities», in Luis I. Prádanos (coord.), Companion to Spanish Environmental Cultural Studies, Tamesis Books / Boydell & Brewer, New York, pp. 206-212. In this paper, main approaches in the critical literature on tourism within the field of Hispanic cultural studies are presented and are categorized based on the spatial imaginary assumed.
- Valdivielso, Joaquín (ed.) (2021): Democracia en estado de alarma. Sujetos emergentes y esfera pública. Madrid: Plaza y Valdés. It is a collective book with the participation of authors such as Cristina Lafont, María Pía Lara, Karolina Enquist Källgren or Asger Sørensen, among others, where Valdivielso contributes with the work «Public sphere: a map of the debates».
- Valdivielso, Joaquín & Moranta, Joan (2019) «The social construction of the tourism degrowth discourse in the Balearic Islands», Journal of Sustainable Tourism, 27:12, 1876-1892, DOI: 10.1080/09669582.2019.1660670 Departing from the approach of the environmental discourses in the work of the critical theorist J. S. Dryzek, the process of discursive construction of the most recent wave of social criticism of tourist massification in the Balearic Islands is analyzed and discussed.

An International Journal of Democratic and Critical Theory, vol 24, issue 3, pp. 296-309, Print ISSN: 1351-0487 - DOI: 10.1111/1467-8675.12287 This paper traces the context of emergence of the populist discourse in Podemos and analyzes and discusses the theory effect of Laclau and Mouffe's approach in it.
