Tenured professor of the area of Didactics of corporal expression, of the Department of Pedagogy and Specific Didactics of the Universitat de les Illes Balears. PhD from the Universitat de les Illes Balears, Graduate in Physical Education from the INEFC of Barcelona, Master in Sports Performance from the Universitat de les Illes Balears and European University Diploma in sports management from the University of Northumbria in Newcastle.
He has published more than 80 articles, most of them indexed, (25 JCR) some with a great impact factor (5Q1), he has participated in different congresses related to physical activity and sport, presenting more than 100 communications and 20 conferences in congresses. national and international, he has also participated in the organization of 10 congresses. He has been a professor of several specialization courses in physical activity and sports sciences, he has participated in 15 research projects, highlighting those related to Fair play and sportsmanship in young athletes.
He has recognized two sections of research.
In 2003 he carried out a research stay at the University of Deusto, Bilbao. In June 2009 he carried out a research stay at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with the research project on motivation and well-being in sports careers (SEJ2007-64528 / PSIC).
Since 2008 he is a member of the European network for the promotion of healthy physical activity HEPA, belonging to the WHO and a research member of the 'Schools for Health Europe' network of the European Commission. As a result of these groups, the research interests drift towards the prevention of childhood obesity in schools, with whose project 'Jose Castillejo' receives a scholarship, to deepen research into the prevention of childhood obesity in the 'John Hancock Research Center on Physical activity, nutrition and obesity prevention' at Tufts University in Boston, USA, in the second semester of the 2010-2011 academic year, in which he was named 'Visiting Associate professor'. Subsequently, he develops research tasks in the project of the Spanish network of researchers in back ailments and participates in the R + D + I project SEJ2010-64528 PSIC, on health and well-being in athletes. In 2012 he participates in an international research project (Live Well Project NIH-1R01HD057841-01) and carries out a new teaching mobility stay.
In 2016 he received as IP the knowledge transfer contract 'possem valores a l'esport' with an amount of €13,361.00, and received the second complement of research excellence from the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands.
Currently, the line of research focuses on education in healthy habits, especially the promotion of physical activity in different populations and participates in the competitive projects PREDIMED+ DM (prevention in the Mediterranean diet and physical exercise) aimed at the elderly, and in the Project PEPE, for the Promotion of Postural Education at School, aimed at schoolchildren
At the Management level, he has been coordinator of Primary Education studies at the Faculty of Education and Coordinator of Physical and Sports Activities at the UIB for 6 years. Outside the UIB and at a cooperative level, he is a member of the training committee of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, Secretary of the Rotger-Villalonga Foundation (culture and nature) and a founding member and member of the scientific committee of the Fibrous Dysplasia Association ( FEDER member).
He currently directs the Master of Research in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at the University of the Balearic Islands, and is deputy director of the Unit for Innovation in Video Games and Artificial Intelligence at the UIB.
