Dr. Calafell received his Law degree (1992) and PhD in Law (2002) from the UIB. He joined the UIB Faculty of Law as associate lecturer of Constitutional Law in 1996. He is accredited as contract lecturer and assistant lecturer with a doctoral degree by the University Quality Assurance Agency of the Balearic Islands (2006). He has authored over sixty publications on various topics of Constitutional Law, including the books Los convenios entre Comunidades Autónomas (The agreements between autonomous communities, 2006) and Los estatutos de los partidos políticos españoles (The statutes of the Spanish political parties, 2007, with Dr. Joan Oliver Araujo), both published by the Center for Political and Constitutional Studies. He is also the author of more than thirty papers and presentations at conferences in his field of expertise. His research interests focus on the territorial organization of the state and the constitutional status of the Armed Forces.
