Brief CV
Fernando Rodríguez-Gallego has been a lecturer at the Universitat de les Illes Balears since September 2016. He is deputy director of the Institut d'Estudis Hispànics en la Modernitat, based at the UIB, a member of the Prolope research group (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), and an external collaborator of the Instituto de Estudios Medievales y Renacentistas y de Humanidades Digitales (University of Salamanca), as well as of the Calderón research group (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela) and the Proteo group (University of Burgos). He is also a researcher in the project “MANOS. Expanding and researching the database of early modern theatrical manuscripts (ASODAT Third Phase)”, directed by Alejandro García Reidy at the University of Salamanca, and collaborates with the project “ISTAE: impresos sueltos del teatro antiguo español: base de datos integrada del teatro clásico español. Segunda fase (ASODAT. Tercera fase)”, directed by Alejandra Ulla Lorenzo (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela).
He earned his PhD in Hispanic Philology in 2009 from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, as a member of the Calderón Research Group. His dissertation analyses the rewriting of Calderón de la Barca’s plays included in his Segunda parte, particularly El astrólogo fingido and Judas Macabeo, for which he published annotated critical editions with Iberoamericana/Vervuert. His main research interests focus on editing Golden Age texts (Calderón de la Barca, Lope de Vega, Francisco de Quevedo, Agustín Moreto) and on the theater of that period, especially aspects such as playwrights’ involvement in the publication of their plays and the phenomenon of rewriting.
Since completing his PhD in 2009, he has worked at the universities of Münster, Vienna, Santiago de Compostela, and Neuchâtel, and has conducted research stays at Duke University and the Freie Universität Berlin.
