Brief CV
I am an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of the Balearic Islands and a member of the Interdisciplinary Speech, Language and Acquisition Laboratory (ISLA-Lab).
I hold a Bachelor's degree in English Studies from the Université Montpellier III, a Master's in Translation and Cultural Mediation from the Université Toulouse II, and a second Master's in Foreign Language Teaching from the Université d'Angers (France).
Since 2022, I have been pursuing a Ph.D. under joint supervision between the University of the Balearic Islands and Dr. D. Frost at the Université Grenoble-Alpes (France), supported by an FPU Grant from the Conselleria de Fons Europeus, Universitat i Cultura of the Government of the Balearic Islands. My dissertation, "Raising Awareness to Prosody in L2 English,"examines the impact of a prosody-focused approach to language teaching and learning on inexperienced adult learners at the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas (EOI) and their teachers.
Beyond academic research, I am actively involved in teacher training and advocate for alternative teaching methods that prioritize pronunciation. I have designed and shared teaching materials for both French and English as second languages, which I regularly post on social media (@francofolieFLE).
My research interests include second language acquisition, phonetics and pronunciation pedagogy, embodied and performative approaches to language teaching (musical and theatrical), and the relationship between voice and identity.
