Brief CV

Rafael Ramis Barceló is Full Professor of History of Law and Institutions at the University of the Balearic Islands, where he has been teaching since 2010. He holds degrees in Law, Philosophy, Comparative Literature, Political Science and Sociology, and Religious Studies, and a PhD in Law from Pompeu Fabra University.

His main lines of research are: 1) the history of legal thought; 2) the history of universities; 3) the history of ideas (15th-18th centuries); 4) Ramon Llull and Lullism.

He has published and edited forty books and is the author of more than five hundred articles in journals.

He has carried out various research stays at the Max Planck Institute in Frankfurt, as well as in Paris, Rome, London, Freiburg, Munich, etc. He has also been a visiting professor at various European Universities.

Since 2025, he is the Director of the Institute for Hispanic Studies in Modernity (IEHM).
