Brief CV
Inés Álvarez Vadillo received the degree in Informatics Engineering with a specialization in Computer Engineering from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Palma, Spain, in 2014, a master in Informatics Engineering from the same University in 2016 and the Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technologies in 2021. She is currently a lecturer ("Ayudante") in the Department of Mathematics and Informatics at the UIB and a PostDoc researcher at the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering at Mälardalen University, Sweden, since February 2022.
Dr. Álvarez works in the research areas of Highly Dependable and Distributed Embedded Systems and Real-Time communications. She has actively collaborated in the Systems, Robotics and Vision research group since 2014. She has co-authored 5 journal papers (4 of them as first author) and 12 papers published in international scientific conferences with peer-review (7 of them as first author) and one of the publications received the best work-in-progress paper award at the IEEE World Conference on Factory Communication Systems (WFCS) 2016. As a student, she has collaborated in the implementation and design of several fault tolerance mechanisms developed within the national research project FT4FTT and she has participated in the national research project DFT4FTT as a member of the working team. She carried out a six-month research visit in the Telecommunications Institute and the University of Porto, Portugal, in 2016; a ten-month research visit in the University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 2017; and a visit of one month in the research department of the prestigious company TTTech Computertechnik AG in Vienna, Austria, in 2018.
She has participated in the organization of the 11th IEEE World Conference on Factory Communication Systems (WFCS 2015) as a member of the local organizing committee and in the organization of the 19th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN'21) as member of the local organizing committee, Finance co-chair and Publication co-chair. She participated in 6 international conferences as member of the review committee. She is a member of the IEEE since 2016.
Dr. Álvarez is carrying out her research activity working with the novel set of standards developed by the Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) Task Group of the IEEE. She is focused on the design and evaluation of fault tolerance mechanisms for said standards. In the medium term she is committed to address open issues related to the reliability provided by TSN standards and, in this way, provide fault tolerance to the networks of next-generation distributed systems.
