Brief CV
Dr Gené graduated in translation and interpreting from the Pompeu Fabra University, holds a master’s degree in applied languages (extraordinary degree award) from the University of Lleida, and has a PhD in languages and applied linguistics and a university expert diploma in higher education lecturing techniques from the UIB. Moreover, she is a fully qualified teacher, being awarded the Spanish CAP teaching accreditation by the University of Barcelona, and is a certified legal expert in forensic linguistics by the Miguel de Cervantes European University.
Maria has been an associate lecturer at the UIB since 2014, lecturing on different undergraduate and postgraduate language courses, and has been accredited as an assistant lecturer with a PhD (PAD) and a contract lecturer with a PhD (PCD) by the AQUIB quality assurance body. In turn, her main professional activity focuses on independent language services, working on a freelance basis since 2008. Specifically, she provides sworn and general translations, editing and proofreading, and language assessments.
Moreover, she has written several book chapters and journal articles in the fields of lexical neology and foreign language learning, specifically on developing writing skills in content and language integrated learning (CLIL).
Official Language Accreditation
· Official certification as a sworn translator in English-Catalan and Catalan-Spanish (and vice-versa) issued by the Catalan Government.
· C2-level English issued by the Official Language School (EOI) in Palma.
· D-level (equivalent to C2) proficiency in Catalan issued by the Government of the Balearic Islands.
· E-level proficiency in Catalan for administrative and governmental purposes issued by the Government of the Balearic Islands.
· Official training certification in technical text editing from the Government of Valencia.
· Training certification in Catalan teaching for secondary education (CCS) from the Government of the Balearic Islands.
