Summary CV Dr. Francesc Ordinas
His research, developed since 2004 in the Instituto Espaņol de Oceanografía-Centre Oceanogrāfic de Balears,is focused on nektobenthic habitats and communities from the continental shelf, the population dynamics, stock assesment and biology of demersal species, the improvement of selectivity on bottom trawl gears and the assessment of the fishing impact on benthic habitats. In his PhD thesis, he studied the demersal resources communities and its relationship with the benthic habitats in the continental shelf bottom trawl fishery of the Balearic Islands. As a taxonomist, he is the author of the description of four new benthic fish species (2015: Protogrammus alboranensis Fricke, Ordines, Farias y García-Ruiz; Speleogobius llorisi Kovačić, Ordines y Schliewen; 2016: Buenia massutii Kovačić, Ordines y Schliewen; 2018: Buenia lombartei Kovačić, Ordines y Schliewen). He has participated in a number of oceanographic surveys and in several international meetings on the assessment of the exploitation state of marine fisheries resources. Currenlty, he is co-directing a PhD thesis on the effects of climate and fishing on the demersal ecosystems.Teaching
