I am a cognitive neuroscientist with expertise in perception, action, and interoception. My research concerns the sensory processing of body-related information: (1) I have studied how we perceive and remember others' bodies (exteroceptive processing), and (2) I am now studying the influence of our inner bodily organs upon cognition (interoceptive processing). By having such an inside-out understanding of human cognition, I examine novel hypotheses and conduct experiments grounded in cognitive psychology and neuroscience. My ongoing work examines how the dynamic interaction between the brain and the heart modulates the way we perceive, relate to, and act upon the world.
