Amelia Jiménez Gaspar is graduated in Hispanic Philology in 2010 from the Universitat de les Illes Balears. Subsequently, she completed the master degrees in Teacher Training (UIB) and Language Science and Hispanic Linguistics (UNED). In March 2021, she defended her PhD thesis, at the University of the Balearic Islands, focused on simultaneous bilingualism and linguistic contact, around which she has presented many papers in Europe and the United States.
She completed a research stay for one year (2015-2016) as a scientific collaborator at Bergische Universität Wuppertal (Germany) and another at the University of Michigan (United States) in 2017. Her main lines of research are sociolinguistics, bilingualism, and early acquisition in trilingual children. Currently, she is a scientific member of the research project 'Bilingual and Trilingual First Language Acquisition' (BiTriFLA) together with Professor Dr. Laia Arnaus Gil (University of Wuppertal). The research of this project focuses on the early acquisition of Catalan and German (as well as other languages such as French, Spanish, and English) as heritage or community languages in Germany and Spain.
Regarding her teaching experience, she taught the seminar: 'Spanish in the World' (in the summer semester of 2016) in the Spanish degree at the University of Wuppertal (BUW). Likewise, she has been an assistant professor at the UIB since 2016. The different subjects she taught are: 'La Enseñanza de La Lengua Española en la Educación Primaria', 'Lectura y Escritura Iniciales' and 'La Lengua en el Aula de Infantil: del Placer de la Lectura al Juego de la Escritura' in the Early Childhood Education and Primary Education degrees, as well as 'Introducción al Estudio de la Lengua Española' and 'La Enseñanza del Español como Lengua Extranjera' in the Spanish Language and Literature degree.
