Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences of the UIB and collaborator with the biotech based company Alimentomica SL .

The scientific career of Dr. Palou has been carried out essentially in the Molecular Biology, Nutrition and Biotechnology Laboratory of the UIB, and has resulted in more than 45 research articles published in international journals of prestige indexed in JCR, 2 book chapters, and 3 patents. She has presented numerous communications in national and international scientific congresses / meetings (around 100).

Her main lines of research are: perinatal nutrition and metabolic programming and regulation, obesity and associated disorders, and innovative strategies to improve health.

She has participated as a member of the research team in more than 10 research projects funded by the Spanish Government and the European Union. She is member of the NuGO European Excellence Network, 'The European Nutrigenomics Organization', the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de la Fisiopatología de la Obesidad y Nutrición (CiberObn), and the Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IdISBa), since September 2018.

Dr. Palou has codirected three doctoral theses and is co-directing other 2 doctoral theses within the Doctoral programm of Nutrigenomics and Personalized Nutrition in the UIB. She has co-supervised (>10) master's degree projects, within the official master's degree in Nutrigenomics and Personalized Nutrition of the UIB, and 8 Degree final projects (TFG) within the Biochemistry degree.
